The Premiere of Stand: A Symphony for Jazz Orchestra - September 10, 2011Stand: A Symphony for Jazz Orchestra was composed to commemorate and depict the American experience of our national tragedy on 9/11. The United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon from Marine Barracks, Washington, DC was written into the piece for their silent precision drill representing all first responders in the premiere of this work honoring victims of 9/11, their loved ones and all who answered the subsequent call to arms. Its premiere in Nyack's Memorial Park provided a direct tie to Ground Zero via The Hudson River. As Executive Producer, Brown raised in excess of $35,000 singlehandedly, through her fiscal sponsorship with Fractured Atlas, to ensure its premiere on 9/10/11. For her unique homage to 9/11 she was publicly bestowed a Legislative Proclamation by the Honorable Harriett D. Cornell, Rockland County Legislative Chair, and received a letter of recognition from The Commandant of The Marine Corps, General James F. Amos.417 KB
